In our classroom, positive behavior is reinforced and recognized daily. Students are praised and rewarded for meeting our classroom expectations. Our classroom uses a traffic light system. Each student will begin the day on green. Students will receive three warnings/reminders of our expectations before moving their clip to yellow. However, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the appropriate behavior throughout the day and move back to green. If on yellow, students will receive three additional warnings before moving to red. A green day will be indicated by a sticker or smiley face in the planner. If a student ends his or her day on yellow or red, there will be a note in their take-home planner or additional contact.
Parent Communication
Important information from school will be sent home in the Thursday Communicators each week.
Students will also take home a green daily folder containing their classwork and notes/information from me. If you have a note for me, please put it in your child's daily folder. I will check daily folders each morning for any notes relating to early dismissal, transportation changes, parent concerns, etc. If you have any last minute transportation changes please call the office and email me to ensure I receive the information. Thanks!
Snack
Students may bring in one snack item to be eaten prior to recess. Drinks are not allowed. We will have our snack right before recess and students may get water on our way out to the playground. We will have a "working snack time," meaning students will still be engaged in instruction as they snack. I will be working with a small group and will not be able to assist students with opening their snack, so please make sure your child's snack is in a zip-lock baggie or another easily opened container. We will practice the procedures of snacking independently while still working on class work.
***IMPORTANT*** WE ARE A PEANUT-FREE SCHOOL, so please do not send in any snacks containing peanuts.
Thank you!
