What We're Learning:
Literacy
Students have been learning about non-fiction texts and how we can learn new information through reading. Students are continuing to practice working with partners during our reading time as they learn how to collaborate with their peers. During Writing, students have been working on their own non-fiction writing to teach readers new things. Students enjoyed exploring and observing grapes and raisins to create a book “All About Grapes.” After our Non-fiction unit, students will begin learning about poetry in writing. We will write our own poetry and practice visualizing the poems in our minds.

Math
Students have been practicing story problems, adding on, shapes, and learning through play on Dreambox during our MSG time. Students have been exploring shapes and shape relationships during Investigations. They enjoyed being “Shape Detectives” and investigating our classroom for shapes around us. Students will continue learning about shapes as they create shape books, shape pictures, and shape puzzles.

Social Studies
Students learned about setting goals for their futures during Career and College Week. Students also learned more about beloved author Dr. Seuss as we celebrated his birthday during the first week of March. Students wrote and created in-class projects based on various Dr. Seuss stories. Students created maps of their Place in the World by identifying and labeling their home, city, state, country, continent, and planet. We were able to enjoy this beautiful Spring weather by creating maps outdoors using sidewalk chalk one afternoon. Students really had a blast creating maps in a new way.
